Durham, NC--- Durham homeowners will have the opportunity to hear first-hand about their property tax appraisals, Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph AME Church. Property owners will be able to speak directly to Keyar Doyle, Durham County's tax administrator, Senator Natalie Murdock, Representative Zack Hawkins, County Commissioner Stephen Valentine. In this Q & A forum Durham residents will learn how to appeal their appraisal, how to find out if they qualify for property tax exemption programs, and how the reappraisal impacts property taxes, and more.
All Durham county property owners are encouraged to attend.

The event highlights Duke’s dedication to meaningful community engagement and collaboration to tackle the root causes of health inequities. MaryAnn’s legacy of breaking silos and fostering partnerships continues to inspire efforts to advance health equity.

NABJ-RDU’s Holiday Mixer was a night to remember, celebrating with incredible members, and honoring the legendary anchor Anthony Wilson of ABC11-WTVD, who retired after over 50 years in broadcast journalism. A two-time chapter president, Anthony also dedicated decades to mentoring students through NABJ’s Multimedia Short Course at North Carolina A&T.
A special thank you to the TheHouse Restaurant in Durham, their fantastic live band, and attentive staff made the evening unforgettable.

The Raleigh Durham Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ-RDU) hosted a “Making News” Media Access Workshop on October 5th. This interactive event brought together non-profit organizations, small businesses, and student leaders for a hands-on experience in media engagement.
Over the course of 4 hours, media professionals shared valuable insights on newsgathering, news story development, public service announcements, and commercial advertising.
Moderated by CBS17 News Anchor Rod Carter, the workshop empowered participants to collaborate with news organizations, craft effective press releases, and boost their publicity efforts. Attendees also gained valuable skills in online and social media outreach, AI tools, and interview preparation.
The event took place at NC State University’s Witherspoon Student Center’s Washington Sankofa (126).
